Description
Functioning parathyroid glands control the calcium in the body. There are four parathyroid glands, each of which there are two in each lobe of the thyroid gland. All glands are located at the base of the neck.
Parathyroid cancer is a type of cancer is extremely rare. Both men and women is potentially cancerous. This disease usually occurs in people older than 30 years. The exact cause of parathyroid cancer is unknown. People with multiple endocrine neoplasia type I have an increased risk of this disease.
Symptom
Symptoms of parathyroid cancer primarily caused by hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood), and can affect various parts of the body, among others:
- Pain bones
- Broken bone abnormalities
- Frequent urination
- Often thirsty
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Lack of appetite
- Constipation
- Fatigue
- Muscle weakness

Treatment
Surgery is the recommended treatment for parathyroid cancer. Sometimes surgery is difficult, if not known whether or not cancerous parathyroid tumor.
